PFM Opens Denver Office Headed by Chris Blackwood

DALLAS — PFM Asset Management LLC has opened a Denver office with former Davidson Fixed Income Management managing director Chris Blackwood in charge.

Blackwood, who has 30 years experience in public finance, will carry the title senior managing consultant.

Blackwood will oversee a management portfolio in the Rocky Mountain region, with his main focus on Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico, according to Marty Margolis, PFM Asset Management's chief investment officer.

"We have long-standing financial advisory and investment management clients there, and a Denver office staffed by a professional of Chris' caliber will add essential resources on the ground for PFM to build an even greater presence," Margolis said.

Public Financial Management Inc., which ranked first nationally among municipal financial advisers, did not rank among the top 10 financial advisory services in Colorado or surrounding states in the first half of this year. Piper Jaffray & Co. remained the top adviser in Colorado.

At Davidson Fixed Income Management, Blackwood helped start and manage local government investment pools in Florida and Colorado for Davidson and its predecessor firm, Kirkpatrick Pettis.

He has been a public finance banker for several western regional investment banks and a senior economist for the state of Colorado.

Blackwood is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in economics.

In the first half of 2010, PFM advised clients on $27.2 billion of total debt in 467 transactions.

Based in Philadelphia, the company has more than 430 employees in 34 offices throughout the country.
