Consumer Confidence Improves in August

The University of Michigan’s preliminary August consumer sentiment index reading was 69.6 compared to the final July 67.8, according to market sources.

Economists expected a 67.0 reading.

The expectations index was 64.1, and the current conditions index was 78.3.

Economists had predicted a 76.5 reading for current conditions and 63.7 for expectations.
