The New York State Lottery Commission last week approved a $380 million bid from a Malaysia-based firm to operate a video lottery casino in Queens.
An affiliate of the Genting Group was the sole bidder being considered to develop and operate a racino at Aqueduct Racetrack after proposals submitted by rivals were disqualified last month.
The bid needs the approval of the governor and leaders of the Senate and Assembly to move forward. Pending approval, the state plans to sell $250 million of personal income tax bonds to finance a construction grant that the chosen firm would use to build the facility.
