CDIAC Staffer Returns as Executive Director

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Former California Debt and Investment Advisory Commission staffer Mark Campbell has returned to take the reins as executive director of the state clearinghouse for debt-issuance information.

State Treasurer Bill Lockyer announced the appointment Friday.

“Mark’s public finance and budget experience, combined with his prior six-year stint at CDIAC, make him an outstanding choice to lead the commission,” Lockyer said in a statement.

Campbell most recently worked for the Department of Finance as a principal program budget analyst. He led a team responsible for the procurement and design of a new statewide, comprehensive financial management system known as “FI$Cal.”

Before that, he was a program manager and administrative officer for CDIAC from 2000 to 2006. Campbell has also worked as a private consultant to state and federal agencies, and has written reports and articles on community and economic development.

CDIAC compiles data from all municipal debt issuers in California. The commission also organizes educational seminars on public finance matters, the debt issuance process and investment of public funds.

Campbell replaces John Decker, who departed earlier this year.
