Darby Tapped to Be Acting Head of N.J. Educational Facilities Authority

Mary Jane Darby, director of project management at the New Jersey Educational Facilities Authority, will serve as the agency’s acting executive director.

She replaces Roger Anderson, who left the authority July 23 after nearly eight years as its head.

Anderson will begin Monday as vice president for finance and chief financial officer at Centenary College, a private liberal arts institution in northwestern New Jersey.

Darby has led the NJEFA’s project management department since 2002, overseeing higher educational debt issuance for public and private schools and state-supported debt transactions for higher ed programs.

Before joining the authority, Darby was vice president in the public finance department of Tucker Anthony Inc. and first vice president of the public finance department of Ryan, Beck & Co. Darby will continue to lead the authority’s project management team.

“Her public finance expertise and extensive knowledge of our colleges’ capital plans will ensure that the financing needs of our clients will continue to be met with the highest level of service,” NJEFA chairman Roger Jacobs said in a statement.

Anderson was the authority’s second-longest serving executive director.

He oversaw $7 billion of debt issuance in 117 financing transactions, nearly 60% of NJEFA’s total borrowing activity since it began 44 years ago.
