Stern Brothers Add to Alternative Energy and Power Group

CHICAGO — St. Louis-based Stern Brothers has hired Adam Pierce to strengthen its alternative energy and power practice as part of an ongoing national expansion of its public finance business.

Pierce started with the firm in mid-July as an investment banking associate. He previously worked as an analyst in the energy and power group at Wells Fargo Securities.

“We are very happy to welcome Adam to the firm. His unique experience and strong skills make him a great fit to support our expanding energy and renewable power team,” Tim Hosler, Stern’s chief operating officer, said in a statement.

Pierce is the latest addition to Stern, which has expanded its ranks and presence across the country. It recently opened new offices in Detroit and Seattle, adding to its eight existing public finance offices. The firm has bolstered its banking, analytic, and sales teams this year and is looking to add another seven to nine senior bankers and several junior bankers across sectors. It also is searching for additional sales professionals and analysts.

Stern ranks 93rd so far this year nationally as a senior manager. It finished last year ranked 81st and was 59th in 2008, according to Thomson Reuters. Stern ranks 54th so far this year in the Midwest, where it finished 41st in 2009 and 38th in 2008.
