Obituary - John J. Winders

John J. Winders, a former editor of The Bond Buyer, died on July 4. He was 94.

Mr. Winders, of New Milford, N.J., retired from The Bond Buyer in 1980. He was also editor of the Money Manager.

Mr. Winders’ career as a journalist included work on the staff of the Courier of Findlay, Ohio, the New Bedford Standard-Times of Massachusetts, and the New York Herald Tribune.

He was a graduate of Findlay University, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and Tufts University.

Mr. Winders was a member of the Society of Business Writers, the Government Finance Officers Association, the Municipal Forum of New York, the Municipal Analysts Group of New York, the Mulberry Street Analysts, and the Tax Institute of America.

During World War II, Mr. Winders served in the Army Air Corps mobile training unit, stationed in the U.S., the Aleutian Islands, and in Great Britain attached to Eighth Airforce.

He is survived by his wife, the former Edna Neff; two sons, John Jr. and his wife Susan of Macungie, Pa., and Peter J. of Wallington, N.J.; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and a sister, Shirley Pielecha of California.

Funeral services will be held privately. Arrangements are being handled by the Petrik Funeral Home of Bogota, N.J.
