Holland & Knight Adds Ex-Crist Aide as Policy Adviser

BRADENTON, Fla. — Lakeland, Fla.-based Holland & Knight LLP has hired Eric Eikenberg as a senior policy adviser in the firm’s public policy and regulation practice group.

Eikenberg, former chief of staff to Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, is working in the law firm’s office in Tallahassee co-leading the Florida government advocacy team with senior policy adviser and former Gov. Bob Martinez and former congressman and partner Jim Davis.

“Eric has successfully established himself in the public sector both in Florida and on a national level,” Holland & Knight managing partner Steven Sonberg said in a release.

Eikenberg will represent clients before the Legislature and executive branch agencies as well as clients in Washington, D.C. He most recently was the manager for Crist’s U.S. Senate campaign. Before he served as Crist’s chief of staff and deputy chief of staff, Eikenberg was chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Clay Shaw Jr. In that role he handled an international trade portfolio and issues dealing with the Ways and Means Committee on Trade. Prior to that, he was deputy executive director for the Republican Party of Florida.

Eikenberg received his bachelor’s degree from American University where he majored in political science and in communications, legal studies, and economics.

Holland & Knight last year ranked 101st among bond counsel on eight long-term financings with a par amount of $435.4 million, according to Thomson Reuters. It was 48th out of the top 50 firms serving as disclosure counsel on three issues worth $335 million.
