MSRB Launches Redesigned Site Aiming for Better Access to Data

The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board launched a redesigned website this week with new content and features, better navigation, and a contemporary style that aims to provide improved access to information about MSRB rules, market disclosures, and data collected and disseminated by the board.

The new site has dedicated pages for dealers, issuers, and investors, reflecting the fact that the board has grown beyond being solely a regulator of dealers into something much broader, including acting as an information portal for the entire municipal market.

Among the changes are a dedicated section for dealers that has links to the most common dealer forms, manuals, and reporting and disclosure requirements.

The MSRB also has organized a new, comprehensive rules section to easily access rule interpretations, regulatory notices, and Securities and Exchange Commission filings.

The section is accessible via a drop-down tab from the home page and through a Rules and Interpretations tab.

Investors can find educational resources and information about munis by clicking on the Municipal Bond Market tab, which provides general information about the market, how it operates and is regulated, as well as descriptions of various types of munis and a glossary of market terms.

The new site also features a significant amount of information about the board itself, including head shots and biographical information about its 15 members as well as staff.

The Electronic Municipal Market Access site, which the board has operated as the sole repository for secondary market disclosures since last summer, was not part of the MSRB's website overhaul, though EMMA is prominently advertised and linked to from the new site.
