S&P’s Slew of Upgrades

Standard & Poor’s raised 59 school districts and municipalities in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Ohio.

“The upgrades follow our review of credits across the Midwest, particularly in light of criteria published in 2008 reflecting our views of smaller or more remote communities,” analyst Jane Ridley wrote.

The Illinois, the upgraded issuers were: Alton, Cook County School District No. 74, Freeport, Geneva Park District, Glenside Public Library District, Green Hills Public Library District, Harvard, Indian Trails Public Library District, Kendall Kane and Will Counties Community Unit School District No. 308, Lincolnwood Public Library District, Pekin, Rantoul, and St. Clair and Washington Counties Community High School District No. 77.

In Michigan, the issuers  were Almont Community School District, Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools, Clinton County, Clinton-Macomb Public Library, Dexter District Library, Edwardsburg Public Schools, Frankenmuth, Godwin Heights Public Schools, Grand Blanc Charter Township, Grosse Pointe Public Library, Harbor Springs Public Schools, Imlay City Community Schools, Linden, Manistee Area Public Schools, Marshall District Library, Marysville, Montague Area Public Schools, Muskegon, Muskegon County, Pennfield Schools, Plainfield Charter Township, Redford Township Library District, Royalton Township, Southgate, St. Clair Shores, Sturgis Public School District, Tri-County Area Schools, Wayland, Wolverine Lake Village, and Ypsilanti Township.

In Minnesota, the Watertown-Mayer Independent School District No. 111 was upgraded. In Missouri, the issuers upgraded were Clay Jackson Platte Counties Consolidated Public Library District No. 3 and Lees Summit. In Nebraska, they were Adams County School District No. 18, Cuming County School District No. 1, and Hall County.

In Ohio, the agency upgraded Brunswick City School District, Canton City School District, Delaware City School District, Lake Local School District, Lakewood Local School District, Mogadore Local School District, and Southeast Local School District.

Indiana’s Noble County Public Library District was also upgraded, as was Madison County, Ky.
