P3s Eyed for Bi-City Transit

A project to increase public transit access between Pittsburgh and its neighborhood of Oakland is seeking expressions of interest from potential investors and partners to help develop transportation in the area via public-private partnerships.

The two main goals include improving mass transit options between downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland and to increase “circulation and mobility” within Oakland to help create economic development. Pittsburgh and Oakland are the second- and third-largest employment areas in Pennsylvania.

Overseeing the developments is the Transportation Action Partnership, which includes county and city officials, and representatives from area universities, authorities, business, labor, and community groups. The Web site for the developments is www.pittsburgh-oaklandconnector.com, and the TAP will host a live Webinar on March 1 at 10 a.m. EST.

Expressions of interest are due by April 30.
