Leading Indicators Up 0.3% In 10th Straight Increase

The composite index of leading economic indicators gained 0.3% in January, its 10th straight gain, the Conference Board reported yesterday.

LEI increased a revised 1.2% in December.

The coincident index was up 0.2% in January after a revised flat level in December, originally reported as a 0.1% gain.

Meanwhile, the lagging index fell 0.1% after a revised 0.3% decline in December, originally reported as a 0.2% drop.

Economists predicted LEI would be up 0.5% in the month.
