December PPI Rises 0.2%; Core Producer Prices Flat

The producer price index increased 0.2% on a seasonally adjusted basis in December as year-over-year prices rose by the largest amount in 14 months, the Labor Department reported yesterday.

Core producer prices, those excluding food and energy costs, were flat for the month and increased 0.9% on an annual basis.

Economists expected producer prices to be flat in December and for core prices to increase 0.1%.
