Ex-Mayor Joins Arent Fox

Former District of Columbia Mayor Anthony Williams has joined the law offices of Arent Fox LLP in Washington to lead a new practice specializing in municipal finance.

Williams served as mayor for two terms from 1999 to 2007 and did not seek a third term. While in office, hes helped the district avert bankruptcy and improve its finances with the help of chief financial officer, Natwar Gandhi.

The district is rated A1 by Moody’s Investors Service and A-plus by Standard & Poor’s and Fitch Ratings.

In 1993, President Bill Clinton nominated Williams to serve as the first chief financial officer for the Department of Agriculture. He was appointed CFO for the district in 1995. He has also served as president of the National League of Cities.

Williams will advise Arent Fox clients on fiscal management and economic relationships between federal, state and local governments.
