Consumer Sentiment Rebounds in April

The University of Michigan’s final April consumer sentiment index reading was 65.1 compared to the preliminary April reading of 61.9, the final March 57.3, and February’s 56.3, according to market sources. Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 61.9 reading.

The expectations index was 63.1 compared to 58.9 earlier this month, 53.5 last month, and 53.0 at mid-March. The current conditions index was 68.3, compared to 66.6 earlier in March, 63.3 last month, and 62.3 earlier in March.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 66.6 reading for the current conditions index and 58.9 for the expectations index.
