Consumer Confidence Creeps Up to 26.0

The consumer confidence index climbed slightly in March, rising to 26.0 from an upwardly revised 25.3 last month, the Conference Board reported yesterday.

The February index was initially reported as 25.0.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters predicted the index would rise to 28.0.

The present situation index fell to 21.5 from an upwardly revised 22.3, originally reported as 21.2, while the expectations index rose to 28.9 from a downwardly revised 27.3 last month, originally reported as 27.5.
