Finally, a Triennial Budget

Oakland County officials said the county is moving to a triennial budget from its current two-year budget period.

“I’m pleased to announce that Oakland will be the first county in Michigan — and we believe in the United States — to move to a triennial budget,” Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said during his state-of-the-county address. “We will project line-item detail out three fiscal years.”

Patterson said the move would promote better planning and allow the county to avoid having to make emergency spending cuts.
