School Snags AAA From S&P

Standard & Poor’s last week upgraded the Lake County Community Consolidated School District No. 102 to AAA from AA-plus, citing consistently strong financial performance paired with good financial management practices.

The rating review was undertaken in conjunction with the district’s upcoming sale of $2.51 million of general obligation alternative revenue source bonds.

“We expect that the district will continue to maintain its strong financial operations through continued conservative budgeting practices,” analyst Kathryn Horan wrote.

The district — which serves several suburbs about 30 miles north of Chicago — has pledged available taxes, grants, state aid, and interest earnings revenue to repayment of the bonds.
