HFA Board Appointments

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Barbara Macri-Ortiz to the board of the California Housing Finance Agency, and reappointed Michael Gunning.

CalHFA is chartered as the state’s affordable housing bank to make low interest-rate loans through the sale of tax-exempt bonds.

Macri-Ortiz, 60, of Oxnard, has been an attorney in private practice since 2001. The Democrat served as a senior attorney for Channel Counties Legal Services Association from 1990 to 2000.

Gunning, 51, of Elk Grove, has served on the board since June 2009. The Republican has served as vice president for the Personal Insurance Federation of California since 2001. Prior to that, he was the managing director of the Nehemiah Community Reinvestment Fund and director of the California Organized Investment Network for the California Department of Insurance.

Both positions require state Senate confirmation.
