N.Y.C. Bond Club Hosts Event for Down Syndrome Kids

The Municipal Bond Club of New York is hosting a charity event to raise money for children with Down syndrome.

“Kyle’s Night Out,” named in honor of Kyle Jimenez, the two-year old son of Diane and Ty Jimenez of Long Island, will be held Nov. 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. It is co-hosted by Toppers, the club for young professionals involved in the world of municipal bonds, at Turtle Bay, 987 2nd Ave., between 52nd and 53rd Streets.

Kyle was born on Aug. 3, 2007. With the support of donations he receives physical treatment, speech therapy, and house visits from the Association for Children with Down Syndrome in Long Island.

“A mother’s love is hard to beat, but these people are committed professionals who are there for people who have Down’s babies,” said Ty Jimenez, a former director of the Municipal Bond Club. “They are just wonderful to watch in action.”

ACDS employs around 230 people to provide year-round assistance and education programs, treatment, clinical services, and daycare to children and adults with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. The registered nonprofit also operates six residences and a seventh is being opened in January.

There is no cost for the event, though donations are welcome for fundraising.

In addition, on Nov. 7, ACDS will be hosting “Kyle’s Heroes,” a three-hour walk from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. held in Theodore Roosevelt Park, Oyster Bay, designed to raise awareness for the genetic condition.

Ty Jimenez said it is hard to gauge how many people the inaugural walk will attract, but his fellow volunteer firemen will be at the event along with members of the sixth precinct police in Manhasset, Nassau County.

“This is looking like it could be a well-attended cause,” he said.
