Oct. Consumer Sentiment Down From September

The University of Michigan's final October consumer sentiment index reading was 70.6 compared to the preliminary October 69.4, and the final September 73.5, according to market sources.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 70.0 reading for the index.

The expectations index was 68.6 compared to 67.6 earlier in the month, and 73.5 in September.

The current conditions index was 73.7, compared to 72.1 earlier in the month, and 73.4 in September.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 69.0 for the expectations index and a 72.1 reading for the current conditions index.
