Auditor Wins a Prize

Kentucky’s auditor of public accounts, Crit Luallen, is one of eight state and local government officials being honored for leadership as a 2009 Public Official of the Year by Governing magazine.

Luallen has “successfully fought corruption and fiscal mismanagement, the capstone to her 35-year career as a versatile problem solver in state government,” the magazine said in a release.

Prior to becoming state auditor, Luallen was chief operating officer of Kentucky.

The 16th annual Governing awards program recognizes leaders from state, city, and county government who have made a notable positive impact.
