MSRB Unveils EMMA Updates, Including New Search Feature

WASHINGTON — The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board yesterday announced several improvements to its Electronic Municipal Market Access Web site, including a new search feature that will allow market participants to more easily find specific continuing disclosure documents.

The board also added features that will prevent erroneous submissions to EMMA, allow issuers and borrowers to obtain print records of the information they submit to the system, and permit issuers to update their list of securities.

In addition, the MSRB reminded market participants that they can sign up for an alert that continuing disclosure information has been filed pertaining to a specific bond issue.

The search feature should be a big help to investors, the MSRB said, because the board posts several hundred new documents continuing disclosure documents from bond issuers each day. The documents include annual financial and operating information as well as material event notices.

To search for a document, go to emma.msrb.org. Click on “Market Activity” and select the “Continuing Disclosure” tab. A continuing disclosure search screen will appear. Select any combination of search criteria including the type of filing, filing category, data, state, Cusip number, or issuer name.

To sign up for an alert, a market participant should enter a nine-digit Cusip into the “Muni Search,” and click the arrow in the Muni Search box to navigate to the “Security Details” page. Once on that page, there will be an “Alert Me” box on the right-hand side. Click on the “Sign Up for Alerts” button and confirm the e-mail address.
