Port Taps Aviation Chief

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey last week announced that Susan Baer will serve as director of aviation, overseeing the John F. Kennedy, Newark Liberty, and LaGuardia airports.

Baer has served directly under former aviation director Bill DeCota, who passed away last month. She began working for the department in 1988 after joining the Port Authority in the late 1970s, and holds an MBA from New York University.

“Sue is the natural person to help this agency carry on Bill DeCota’s extraordinary aviation legacy,” Port Authority chairman Anthony Coscia said in a news release. “Her lengthy, hands-on experience at the region’s airports is unmatched, and I have no doubt she will continue the agency’s proud tradition of leadership on aviation issues, nationally and globally.”
