School Board Faces Purge

A group of residents of the village of Vedigre has organized an effort to recall all six members of the Verdigre School Board after it approved a $3.8 million bond measure last year.

Voters approved the measure in November, but a group of residents opposed to the debt sued the board, saying it had violated the open-meetings law. A judge dismissed the lawsuit, and the group is appealing, the Omaha World Herald reported.

In addition to the appeal, the group turned in recall petitions to the Knox County clerk for all six members of the school board. If the petitions are approved a new election would be held.
