Treasury: U.S. Gov’t Ran $180.7B Deficit in July

The government posted a $180.7 billion deficit in July, according to Treasury Department figures released yesterday.

Thomson Reuters predicted a $175.0 billion deficit for the month.

The July deficit followed a revised $102.8 billion deficit in June, originally reported as a $94.3 billion deficit.

The government took in $151.503 billion, while spending $332.184 billion.

For the fiscal year to date, the government is running a $1.267 trillion deficit, compared to a $388.617 billion shortage at this point last year.
