U. of Mich. May Index at 68.7 vs. 65.1 in April

The University of Michigan’s final May consumer sentiment index reading was 68.7, compared to the final April 65.1.

 The preliminary April 61.9, the final March 57.3, and February’s 56.3, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 69.4, compared to 63.1 last month, 58.9 earlier in April, and 53.5 in March.

The current conditions index was 67.7, compared to 68.3 last month, 66.6 earlier in April, and 63.3 in March.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.9% in May, compared to 2.8% in April, 2.7% earlier in April, 2.6%.
