Sales of new single-family homes increased 0.3% to a 352,000 seasonally adjusted annual rate in April, according to data released by the Commerce Department today.
The April figure came after a downwardly revised 351,000 rate in March, a 3.0% decrease, originally reported as a 0.6% drop to 356,000. Thomson Reuters’ poll of economists had predicted a 360,000 sales level for April.
Sales of new homes were 34.0% below the 533,000 rate in April 2008, Commerce said.
