Ex-Mayor Joins NTTA Board

Former Fort Worth Mayor Kenneth Barr has joined the North Texas Tollway Authority board of directors, replacing Bill Meadows, who was appointed to the Texas Transportation Commission.

Barr, who will represent Tarrant County on the board, will complete Meadows’ two-year term ending Aug. 31, 2009.

“His contributions to the city of Fort Worth and the North Texas region, particularly in the area of transportation, will be of significant benefit to the NTTA,” said authority chairman Paul N. Wageman.

Barr, who served as mayor from 1996 to 2003, is the principal of Barr Consulting Group. He has chaired transportation committees for the U.S. Conference of Mayors and served on the board of directors of the National League of Cities.

He is also a member of the North Central Texas Regional Transportation Council that allocates state and federal funds for transportation projects in North Texas, and has chaired the Texas Department of Transportation’s Trans-Texas Corridor Advisory Committee.
