Revenue Pegged Near $10B

The latest official estimate of Louisiana’s general fund adopted by the Revenue Estimating Conference last week puts expected revenue in fiscal 2008 at $9.997 billion, up $462 million from the February estimate.

Fiscal 2009 general fund revenues are estimated at $9.7 billion, up $362 million from the February report.

“We’ve just seen phenomenal growth in this state’s economy,” said Greg Albrecht, chief economist and director of the economics sector at the Legislative Fiscal Office.

Albrecht said the conference will meet in September to certify actual revenues for fiscal 2008, but will not consider another revision in estimated general fund revenue until late November or early December.
