NFMA Presents Awards to Muni Participants, Group

MIAMI BEACH, Fla.—- The National Federation of Municipal Analysts presented three awards Thursday night to two municipal market participants and a constituent society for meritorious service and contributions to the industry.

Erik Kimball, a shareholder with Akerman Senterfitt in Orlando, received a meritorious service award for his co-authorship of the group's securities law white paper and for various other papers.

Kimball, however, recently left the NFMA after he was tapped to become a federal bankruptcy judge in West Palm Beach, Fla. He expects to be sworn in as a judge in July 2008.

Gregory Clark, of HVB Group, won a second meritorious service award for his work as the chair of three committees - disclosure, training, and membership - as well as his overall willingness to serve when needed, the group said in statement.

The Southern Municipal Finance Society was recognized with an industry contribution award for two recent conferences it held, one on the New Orleans recovery from Katrina and another on energy. The NFMA chose to honor the SMFS because the conferences were especially timely, relevant, and helped educate the municipal analyst community, the group said.

Tom Weyl, NFMA's immediate past chairman, headed the awards committee.
