Personal Income Up 0.3%; Core PCE Gains 0.2%

WASHINGTON — March personal income printed up 0.3%, personal consumption expenditures rose 0.4%, and PCE core prices gained 0.2% for a 2.1% increase over the year.

The data show real spending turned negative in December and merely eked out gains through March, illustrating the weakening U.S. economy.

The data were already incorporated into the first-quarter gross domestic product report released Wednesday.
