Consumer Sentiment Sags Further in April

The University of Michigan’s final April consumer sentiment index reading was 62.6, compared to the preliminary April 63.2 reading and the final March 69.5 reading, according to market sources.

Economists polled by IFR Markets had predicted a 63.2 reading for the index.

The expectations index was 53.3, compared to 53.4 in the preliminary April report and 60.1 in March.

The current conditions index was 77.0, compared to 78.4 earlier this month and 84.2 last month.
