April NAHB Housing Index Unchanged From March

Builders’ confidence in the market for new single-family homes held steady in April, as the National Association of Home Builders’ housing market index — a monthly gauge of builder sentiment — remained at 20 for the third consecutive month, the group announced yesterday.

The figure matched IFR Markets’ poll of economists predicted level of 20.

The three component indexes were mixed in April. The current single-family home sales index slipped to 18 from 20, while the sales expectations index for the next six months jumped to 30 from 26, and the traffic of prospective buyers index remained 19.
