MONDAY, January 14
The Treasury Department raises $7.0 billion at its regular weekly auction of three-month and six-month discount bills by selling $38.0 billion to refund $31.0 billion of maturing securities. Also maturing is an estimated $20.0 billion of publicly held four-week Treasury bills, the disposition of which will be announced.

TUESDAY, January 15
Retail sales figures for December are released by the Commerce Department.
Producer price figures for December are released by the Labor Department.
Business inventory and sales figures for November are released by the Commerce Department.

WEDNESDAY, January 16
Consumer price figures for December are released by the Labor Department.
Industrial production and capacity utilization figures for December are released by the Federal Reserve Board.
The National Association of Home Builders releases its housing index for January.

The Beige Book, a summary of economic commentary compiled from the 12 Fed banks, is released by the Federal Reserve Board.

THURSDAY, January 17
Initial jobless claims for the week ending Jan. 12 are announced by the Labor Department.
Housing start and building permit figures for December are released by the Commerce Department.

FRIDAY, January 18
Leading economic indicator figures for December are released by the Labor Department.
Preliminary consumer sentiment figures for January are released by the University of Michigan.
