New CFO for San Diego

San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders has named a new chief financial officer to fill the vacancy left when he promoted Jay Goldstone to chief operating officer in September.

The new CFO is Mary Lewis, who has been the city’s director of financial management since April 2006.

Lewis will oversee all aspects of municipal finance, according to a statement issued by the city, including the preparation of San Diego’s financial statements, its annual budget, the issuance and management of debt, and purchasing and contracting.

Lewis will also assume the role of auditor and comptroller, pending City Council confirmation. She will report to Goldstone.
