Preliminary Feb. Consumer Sentiment Index at 70.8

The University of Michigan’s preliminary February consumer sentiment index reading was 69.6 compared to the preliminary February reading of 69.6, the final January consumer sentiment index reading of 78.4, the preliminary January 80.5, and the final December reading of 75.5, according to market sources.

Economists polled by IFR Markets had predicted a 70.0 reading for the index.

The expectations index was 62.4 compared to 59.4 at mid-month and 68.1 last month. The current conditions index was 83.8 compared to 85.4 at mid-month and 94.4 last month.
