MSRB Hires Sandor as Associate General Counsel

The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board announced yesterday that it has hired Lawrence Sandor as an associate general counsel.

Formerly chief compliance officer of Wachovia Securities LLC in Richmond, Sandor will report to general counsel Ernesto Lanza. His hiring comes after a number of departures from the board's legal team this fall, including long-time in-house counsel Diane Klinke, whom Lanza replaced as general counsel.

In a statement, the board said that Sandor brings "deep knowledge and experience with internal broker-dealer supervisory and compliance processes."

"We couldn't be happier about the addition of Larry to our legal team," said MSRB executive director Lynnette Hotchkiss. "His professional background is a terrific fit with the MSRB's regulatory responsibilities and he will add a new perspective to our efforts."

Prior to joining the board, Sandor worked in private practice advising financial services firms on securities regulation. He received his bachelor of science degree from Boston University and his law degree from Emory University.

Sandor's hiring comes after the board hired Leslie Carey as an associate general counsel this summer.

Other attorneys who have left the MSRB since Hotchkiss became executive director last summer include Karen Kaplan, who left last fall for a job at the Federal Reserve, Catherine Courtney, who joined Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, and Jill Finder, who departed this spring.
