SIFMA's Muni Division to Honor Foran and Keating

The municipal bond division of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association plans to present Robert Foran, interim executive director of SIFMA's Foundation for Investor Education, and Dan Keating, chief operating officer at Samuel A. Ramirez & Co., with honor roll awards at a luncheon in New York today.

"Bob and Dan have offered years of leadership and service to the municipal bond industry and to the association," said Chris Hamel, head of municipal finance at RBC Capital Markets and chairman of SIFMA's municipal securities division. "We are very pleased to honor and thank them for their numerous contributions, and to recognize them with the honor roll award."

Both Foran and Keating worked previously at Bear, Stearns & Co., where Foran was senior managing director and manager of the public finance department and served on the board of directors as chair of the firm's president's advisory council. Earlier in his career, Foran worked at Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, and Arthur Anderson & Co.

He has been a strong voice in the municipal securities division of SIFMA and its predecessor organization, the Bond Market Association for many years, serving as the division's chair and treasurer, SIFMA said in a press release.

Keating was previously a senior managing director at Bear and was the head of muni sales, trading, underwriting, and public finance, as well as municipal derivatives. He was a member of the board of directors of Bear and past chairman of the president's advisory committee. He has more than 35 years of experience in the industry, most of it at Bear Stearns, and previously served as chairman of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board during the 2000-2001 term.
