Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin has nominated Jim Glass to become the city’s chief financial officer.
Franklin on Friday notified the City Council by letter that she would nominate Glass, who served as CFO and vice president of finance for AT&T Mobility. He worked for the company and its predecessor, Bellsouth, for 29 years.
Glass has an MBA and is also a certified public accountant.
As CFO for Atlanta, Glass would be responsible for the formulation and execution of the city’s overall financial policies, strategies, planning, and forecasts.
“Mr. Glass is a highly experienced private sector CFO and vice president of finance, with a 29-year history of achievement,” Franklin said in a press release. “He is an intelligent, energetic, fair, and decisive leader who cares deeply for the city of Atlanta and will come out of retirement to lead our turnaround effort for the next 14 months. We embrace him and look forward to the city progressing and thriving under his leadership.”
It was not immediately clear when the council would consider the nomination, but Franklin said Glass could begin working in November.
Glass would replace Janice Davis, who left in July to become CFO of the North Texas Tollway Authority.
