Mayor Adrian M. Fenty last week nominated William M. Walker as chairman of the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority.
WASA has about $1 billion of outstanding debt and serves 121,000 customers in the district.
Walker is president and chief executive officer of Walker & Dunlop and Green Park Financial, two real estate financial services firms based in Bethesda, Md.
He is chairman of the board of Transcom Worldwide SA, a large European outsourcing firm, and also sits on the board and investment committee of Sustainable Technologies Fund, a Swedish-based clean-tech venture capital firm. Walker earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University and an MBA from Harvard University.
The District Council must approve the nomination.
