4.833M Jobs Posted On Internet in August

About 4,833,700 online job postings appeared on leading Internet job boards in August, a 314,3800 increase from July’s revised level of 4,519,400, the Conference Board reported yesterday.

In August, there were 1.93 online job ads per 100 persons in the U.S. labor force. Of the 4,833,700 unduplicated ads in August, 3,040,500 were new. On a year-over-year basis, online job ads increased 4.0%, while new ads slid 0.9%.

“We have seen no real improvement in labor demand throughout 2008 and there is little or no indication in the data that there will be a turnaround in employment for the rest of this year,” according to Gad Levanon, economist with the Conference Board. “However, the August seasonal rebound is some positive news that American business is still looking for workers.”
