MMA Taps 25-Year Vet Schrager To Focus on Client Relations, Disclosure

Twenty-five year market veteran Steve Schrager this week joined Municipal Market Advisors Inc. as a director working out of New Jersey, the company announced yesterday.

Schrager most recently worked for Bloomberg's bond evaluation group, after serving as director of marketing and secondary market insurance for ACA Financial Guaranty Corp.

"Steve brings his pricing/evaluation, credit, and disclosure expertise to our firm at a time when these issues are featured prominently in the industry," MMA chief executive officer Tom Doe wrote in an e-mail.

Schrager will focus on educating financial advisers, public finance departments, issuers, and other clients about using MMA's products, Doe said. He added that Schrager also will leverage his knowledge of disclosure issues to assist the firm's efforts in Washington, D.C.

Doe noted Schrager's role in furthering transparency and disclosure in the municipal market. While with J.J. Kenny, he helped develop the first nationally recognized municipal security information repository designated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Schrager also has experience with Moody's Investors Service as a sell-side research director, and as investment banker and financial adviser.

He graduated with a BA in urban studies from Hunter College. He is a member of the National Federal of Municipal Analysts and the Municipal Analysts Group of New York.
