One-School District Nets AAA

Standard & Poor’s Monday elevated the Ross Elementary School District to AAA from AA.

The well-heeled K-8 district in Marin County has about 400 students. Its voters approved a $6.75 million bond measure in June.

“The raised rating reflects the district’s ongoing strong financial operations, which is strengthened by good supplemental revenues from its basic aid status and additional funding from its parental foundation and parcel tax,” credit analyst Matthew Reining said in a statement. “In addition, the rating reflects the area’s access to the broad San Francisco MSA economy and diverse residential tax base.”

The district’s one school is located 13 miles north of San Francisco in the town of Ross.
