Stern Bros. Taps Marvin Anderson as Senior VP

CHICAGO - Continuing the spree it began last month, St. Louis-based Stern Brothers & Co. has announced hiring Marvin Anderson, who had managed the municipal and corporate syndicate areas for Wachovia Securities LLC in St. Louis.

Anderson, 42, started with Stern in its investment banking group earlier this month as a senior vice president. Anderson spent 15 years at the former A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc., which was acquired by Wachovia last year. He began his career as a corporate and public finance banker before moving up into managerial roles in sales and marketing and capital markets at A.G. Edwards.

"Stern Brothers & Co. has experienced a tremendous growth over the last 18 months, nearly doubling the size of the firm. Our business continues to grow as a result of the professionals that we have hand-selected and brought on board," Kimberly Brandt, a company spokesperson, said in a statement. "We have established new offices, expanded into new practice areas, and built our internal infrastructure up with credit analysts, institutional sales, operations, and marketing. We have been fortunate to welcome some truly exceptional talent to our organization and that definitely creates momentum."

Other recent hires include veteran trader David Hubeli, a new chief compliance officer, and public finance airport infrastructure specialist Terri Smalinsky, and analyst Brian Tournier. In addition to its St. Louis headquarters, the 91-year-old brokerage firm has offices in Kansas City, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, and Tampa. Stern ranked fifth among senior managers in Missouri for the first half of the year.
