WASHINGTON - Erik Kimball, formerly a shareholder with Akerman Senterfitt in Orlando, in June joined U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida for a 14-year term as a judge in the West Palm Beach division.

Prior to taking the bench, Kimball was an active member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts. Kimball edited a white paper on federal securities law that NFMA drafted in September. The paper is designed to provide analysts with a legal basis for demanding more bond-related information from issuers and other transaction participants.

In May, Kimball was one of two municipal market participants to receive a meritorious service award from the analysts group for his work on the white paper and for various other papers that he had a hand in writing.
