Morgan Stanley's McMahon Joins Aravali Partners

Morgan Stanley veteran David J. McMahon Jr. has joined Aravali Partners LLC to focus on the hedge fund's institutional sales and business development efforts.

Most recently executive director of institutional tax-exempt sales and marketing, McMahon spent 22 years at Morgan Stanley, specializing in municipal bonds and derivatives.

"We are excited to tap David's unique knowledge and 22 years of experience in the municipal market to expand our collective talents here at the firm," Aravali president Mark Young said in a statement. "The timing of David's association with the firm comes during a period of unprecedented dislocation in our markets and we look forward to working with him to capitalize on these opportunities."

The hedge fund manages $225 million in assets, focusing on municipal arbitrage, relative value fixed income, and concurrent hedging strategies.

Avarali joined Morgan Stanley in 1986 on its mortgage-backed securities desk. He has degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
