Jackson Taps Ex-A.G. Edwards Banker As VP in Public Finance Department

Jackson Securities LLC announced this week that it had hired Dawn Turner as vice president in its public finance department.

Turner, who previously worked as an investment banker for A.G. Edwards & Sons, will be based in Los Angeles and will report to Bruce Gow, chief product officer and managing director of public finance.

"We are extremely pleased to have Dawn on our team," Gow said in a press release.

"She has the talent and experience we need to continue the growth of our California underwriting activity. California is a very important market for us, and Dawn's hiring fits in well with our ongoing plan to strategically expand our public finance presence," he added.

Turner's experience includes work with several municipal issuers in California, Connecticut, Michigan, and Texas, according to the firm.

Jackson Securities officials said Turner has worked with such issuers as the Redding Wastewater, Redding Water, the Redding Redevelopment Agency, the South San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, the San Diego State University Foundation, and the University of Connecticut.

"I am thrilled to return to public finance representing a firm that is well-respected in the industry and whose objectives match mine," Turner said. "Together we are committed to serving our clients and growing our presence in California."

Earlier this month, Jackson Securities, a unit of Atlanta Life Financial Group, announced several management changes. They included the appointment of Reuben McDaniel 3d as chief executive officer. He replaced Dudley Brown.

McDaniel said the change in the market environment has provided many opportunities to focus on increasing the public finance side of the business, with Turner's hiring being another step toward that goal.
