Drillers Deadline Extended

The deadline to reach an agreement between Tulsa and the Tulsa Drillers minor league baseball team for a new $60 million downtown stadium was moved last week until Aug. 8.

The negotiating period would have expired July 15.

The council earlier approved an extension of the Downtown Tulsa Improvement District and authorized it to increase its annual assessments to 6.5 cents per square foot for property within the district to support $25 million of 30-year bonds for the new ballpark.

Other financing will include $5 million from the stadium lease with the Drillers, a Class AA team in the Texas League, and $30 million in private contributions.
