UBS' Forrester Joins Edwards Angell Public Finance Department in N.Y.

Former UBS managing director Joe E. Forrester has joined the public finance department of law firm Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge as counsel in its New York office.

Forrester comes to the firm with more than 35 years of experience in public finance as both a lawyer and an investment banker. Prior to joining UBS, he worked as a director at Merrill Lynch & Co. and CS First Boston.

In the past, he has directed his work toward the unique tax issues of public finance. He worked on developing both the first forward delivery bond structure - First Boston's REDs - and senior-subordinated refunding structures for large-reserve fund model state revolving fund programs, the firm said.

Outside investment banking, he was a partner at Dewey, Ballantine, Bushby, Palmer & Wood - now part of Dewey & LeBouef LLP - between 1981 and 1991 and a principal in the public finance group of O'Connor, Cavanagh, Anderson, Westover, Kilingsworth and Beshears, PA. He has also worked as an associate in Mudge, Rose, Guthrie & Alexander's tax department.

Forrester received an undergraduate degree from Tulane University, a law degree from the University of Virginia, and an LLM in taxation from New York University.

"We are very happy to welcome Joe to the firm," said Walter J. St. Onge 3d, chair of the firm's public finance department in a statement. "Joe's experience in federal tax law further advances our presence in the area of public finance. We are thrilled to have him on our team."
